About Selsdon Community Clubhouse

Following a neighbourhood care survey in 1971, it became clear that many older adults in the community were living alone and were prone to isolation and loneliness. The idea of a community space was developed, leading to the opening of The Selsdon Community Clubhouse (previously known as the Selsdon Centre for the Retired) on Saturday 21st April 1979 by the Mayor of Croydon. It is a fitting tribute to the vision and dedicated hard work of those who have the need for such a facility and carried this through to completion.

The Clubhouse is at the heart of the community, located within the Sainsbury’s complex (before the library), is on three bus routes, with free parking available.
